Diminutive Flemish Collectors Table Cabinet c.1680

Diminutive Flemish Collectors Table Cabinet c.1680

A fabulous example of a Flemish 1680s Collectors/Table Cabinet.

Naively painted in an elegant scumbled glaze. We start with a raised top which conceals a secret drawer accessed by sliding the top plate sideways. This sits neatly above two double cabinet doors opening to reveal an ebonised interior housing various sized drawers to store your treasures. The inside of the doors and the ebonised interior are accented by distinctively Flemish ripple moulding, finally we find a single drawer at the base of the cabinet lined with the original beautifully worn paper.

This delightful piece would sit perfectly upon a desk or a larger piece of furniture storing your most precious finds. It would work wonderfully used as a jewellery box.
